May's Teachers of the Month

We are very proud to honor May's Teachers of the Month. This is the last month of the school year that we'll honor teachers of the month, but please keep the nominations coming!

These three teachers were selected from a list of many talented, inspiring educators:

Veronica Caballero is the Science Teacher of the Month from Gutierrez Arts and Sciences Middle School in Harlingen CISD. She is an avid proponent of the VNG. Veronica's nominator says that Veronica has an:

...outstanding ability to make learning visible, meaningful, and accessible to all students. Instead of relying solely on traditional vocabulary strategies, she consistently use visuals, models, and real-world connections to deepen student understanding. Her approach empowers students to think critically, make connections, and truly grasp concepts beyond memorization. Through creativity and intentional instruction, this teacher fosters an engaging classroom environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed.

Valerie Cotrone-Fonseca is the Social Studies Teacher of the Month from Sprague Middle School in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. Valerie supports newcomer emergent bilingual students with the VNG in both in-person instruction and on her district's online learning management system. She is helping her fellow World Cultures teachers use the VNG, and aims to help her district embed VNG materials into their curriculum. Regarding the resources Valerie has created using the VNG, she says:

World Cultures Teachers in my building are using the resources I have created to support their students too. VNG is a wonderful resource that I think teachers are unaware of. Once they are comfortable using it, they will be hooked just as I am!

Estrella Hernandez is the Math Teacher of the Month from Metcalf Elementary School in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. Estrella teaches bilingual students and uses the VNG to support Math and Science instruction, as well as language acquisition, in English and Spanish. Estrella's nominator says:

She is a dedicated teacher who goes above and beyond, showing immense diligence in nurturing student growth, providing tailored support, and fostering a positive learning environment. She utilizes [the] VNG to support the bilingual students' language acquisition. Her tireless efforts, passion, and commitment to student success truly make a lasting, transformative difference in education.

These educators will be sent a special gift honoring the amazing work they've done this past month!
