April's Teachers of the Month
Amongst many inspiring nominations, three amazing educators were chosen as April's Teachers of the Month.
Ashley Mendiondo is the Science Teacher of the Month from Vernon World Languages Academy in Harlingen CISD. She uses the VNG daily as a part of her 6th-Grade IB Science classes, during bell-ringers, reviews, and class discussions. Ashley says the VNG:
[The VNG] helps me create opportunities for students to learn and use academic language while making meaningful connections, engage in higher-level thinking, and confidently express their ideas.
Shannon Beard is the Social Studies Teacher of the Month from Truitt Middle School in Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. After previously working with newcomers, Shannon joined the Social Studies team with a unique focus on vocabulary instruction and utilizing the VNG, with VNG visuals surrounding the entire classroom. Shannon's nominator says:
It is evident that she [Shannon] is using the VNG to the maximum extent... Her team's data has really soared within the district in comparison to previous years... Her students' success has clearly been impacted."
Shelby Elliot is the Math Teacher of the Month from O. Henry Elementary in Richardson ISD. Shelby regularly teaches with VNG lessons and refers to VNG word wall visuals throughout the lesson. Shelby's nominator says:
[Shelby] works hard to incorporate VNG into into her teaching to linguistically and academically support all her students.
These educators will be sent a special gift honoring the amazing work they've done this past month!
